Shot At the Night

I did this shoot based on The Killers Greatest Hits Album. I was very happy with the way this shoot turned out. In some of their songs I could not find a meaning for the song as a whole, so i portrayed a section of the lyrics. For example, to portray Dustland Fairytale I portrayed a section of the chorus, "castles in the sky sit stranded vandalized". However some of the pictures showed an over laying theme such as shot at the night. When listening to this song I thought of the night as a representation of  darkness, and how he thought he was losing to the darkness. The darkness and stars in the mirror represent the night and the unsure hand reaching out toward it represent his struggle with this darkness.

Self Portraits

 While creating these self-portraits, I wasn’t sure where to start. I took photos at home and worked hard to get pictures I was happy with, however I wasn’t getting anything I particularly liked. They weren’t bad, but the pictures weren’t what I wanted to get out of this project. However, when I was on a trip with my camera, I ended up deciding to take some more self-portraits. I took about ten minutes and I liked these pictures a lot more than the ones I took in the light studio I set up in my basement. I learned I do better photographing when I go to new places.
